The
Mysterious Thing On My Plate
I'm not sure what my mom made me for dinner.
I think that it's a hockey puck, no lie.
My knife won't even make a little dent.
Maybe it's a moulten lava pie.
Hmmm...
I could use it as a baseball in tomorrow's game.
I could toss it in the river with the other rocks.
I could take it into school for Tuesday's show and tell.
I could kick it down the street for twenty blocks.
This hard and crusty thing that's on my plate
has put me in a rather foul mood,
because it could be a million different things,
but the one thing it could never be is food.
